COLOR
ENHANCED DIAMONDS |
||
| There
are jewelers throughout the country selling treated or color enhanced
diamonds. These diamonds have been color enhanced in a laboratory. Chemicals
will temporarily improve the color of a diamond, but the color will
fade with time. |
||
|
LASER
TREATED DIAMONDS |
||
| Many
diamonds are laser treated. This is a process in which inclusions can
be drilled out using a laser. The diamond is temporarily made
to look better than it is. Laser drilled or enhanced stones should be
noted on all certificates. |

BE
AN INFORMED BUYER |
||
Diamonds
that have been treated have a greatly reduced value. Beware of buying
what looks like too great a bargain. Ask about these treatments. |

ONLY
BUY FROM A TRUSTED JEWELER |
||
| J.Edwards
does not sell diamonds that have been purchased from individuals off
the street. Some jewelers buy from individuals in an effort to save
money. The danger is that there is no way of knowing if laser or chemical
treatments have been performed on the diamond. |
